Welcome to our Home Page

Who are we? Under a contract to the Ross County Board of MRDD, and privately negotiated contracts, FCE provides day habilitation and vocational services to eligible adults with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

Developmental disabilities? These are apparent at birth or before age 22. They include but are not limited to Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, seizure disorder, traumatic brain or spinal injury, and sensory impairment like hearing or sight loss.

Our legal status: FCE files a statement of continued existence every five years with the Ohio Secretary of State, and is recognized by the US Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.

Our place in the local community: FCE is a proud member of the Chillicothe-Ross Chamber of Commerce and actively participates in many of its programs including the Ross County Safety Council. Many FCE professional staff members are graduates of the Chamber's year-long Leadership Chillicothe Ross program.

Our employees with disabilities: From those doing sub-contract work in our own facilities, to those providing janitorial and landscaping services under our supervision at trasitional sites, to those working with little or no supervision in local businesses, our employees with disabilities are all responsible, wage-earning, tax-paying citizens. Many are or have been placed in local supermarkets, restaurants, floral shops, doctors and dentists offices, government facilities, and movie theaters.

Our place in the MRDD field: FCE is a proud member of the Ohio Association of Adult Services which advocates for, and binds together, sheltered workshops across the entire state. All of our professional staff have been members of PAR (the Professional Association for Retardation in Ohio). Some FCE staff are presenters at statewide conferences; some have served on the statewide Boards of PAR and OAAS.

How you can assist our efforts: Refer individuals who may need our services to us or the Ross County Board of MRDD. Let us know if your business has a potential opening for someone we serve at FCE (or if you know of a business that does). Let us know if any part of your business (assembly, packaging, sorting, etc.) can be done by our employees at our facilities if not at yours. Make a contribution to our agency.

Contributions to FCE in the form of cash, merchandise or in kind (volunteer) services may be tax-deductible under IRS law. Please consult with your accountant or tax attorney.
